11.12.2018 | News IntraFind names five AI trends for 2019
KI will also play a major role in 2019. IntraFind Software AG is a specialist for Enterprise Search and Natural Language Processing (NLP) and offers products for company-wide search and text analysis that are also based on AI and state-of-the-art machine learning processes. In the company's view, the following five AI trends will have a particular impact on the coming year:
1). AI becomes more democratic. In recent years, breakthroughs have been repeatedly achieved in many areas of AI. But far too few of them have changed the everyday life of modern knowledge workers so far. By 2019, however, AI methods will be more democratically available in companies. More employees will benefit and have access to AI applications. So far, AI applications have also been developed primarily through the eyes of researchers. In the meantime, more and more feedback from users is being incorporated.
2). Machine Learning takes on more tasks. Machine Learning processes used in business software increasingly relieve employees of standard tasks and enable numerous new applications and business models. For example, text analysis software can be used as an intelligent reading aid by automatically recognizing, extracting and clearly listing the most important entities and passages in page-long documents. This is particularly beneficial for employees who have to deal with a large number of texts on a daily basis. Companies become more efficient and save resources.
3). Conversational Systems assist at work. The market for NLP-based software (Natural Language Processing) is growing. This is also giving a boost to the so-called "Conversational Systems", which make work easier as virtual assistants. In customer support, for example, enquiries are increasingly recorded via virtual assistants, compared with FAQ databases and then answered. These assistants are also used in the company itself as "Virtual Enterprise Assistants". They understand and speak natural language and are able to include information from different data sources in queries.
4). Application areas become more diverse and user-oriented. AI applications generally support more in-depth functions and are increasingly used by companies in specialized application cases, such as contract analyses within the scope of due diligence checks. They help to solve concrete problems in a targeted manner and are able to adapt even better to the behaviour of the user through optimised learning procedures.
5). Graph databases are expanding. Graph databases can be used to link data intelligently. They thus provide the technological basis for numerous applications with which companies can automatically evaluate the networking of information - and are therefore being used more and more frequently. They make it easier to identify experts in the company for certain tasks or to show connections to a certain topic in the form of knowledge graphs.
"Unfortunately, there are still vendors who awaken false expectations among users when it comes to Artificial Intelligence," says Franz Kögl, CEO of IntraFind Software AG. "AI can't do miracles, but it can help companies in many ways. It can give them insights that would escape the human eye, relieve their employees of standard tasks, and make it easier for them to access the information they need. Companies will increasingly benefit from this next year."
